Baseball 2008

The 2008 baseball season starts on Tuesday. Well technically it's just a two-game series in Japan, but still, it starts! The rest of the team open up the following Monday. But I better get my picks in before the Red Sox in Japan series because those two games could play a factor in my decision (just kidding). I put a quick comment by each team.
* = playoffs

AL West

1. Seattle Mariners * (Bedard gives them the edge)
2. L.A. Angels (Getting old)
3. Texas Rangers (No starting pitching)
4. Oakland A's (Rebuilding)

AL Central

1. Detroit Tigers * (Best offense in baseball, comeback year for Dontrelle Willis)
2. Cleveland Indians * (Sabathia will have a huge contract year)
3. Chicago White Sox (Veterans who performed badly last year will return to form)
4. Kansas City Royals (Tons of young talent, will be a contender in two years)
5. Minnesota Twins (Starting pitching is awful)

AL East

1. Boston Red Sox * (Starting pitching will carry them)
2. Toronto Blue Jays (Finally will overtake the Yankees with a healthy team)
3. New York Yankees (Team is getting old quickly, not enough starting pitching)
4. Tampa Bay Rays (Best young team in baseball, will be fun to watch)
5. Baltimore Orioles (Just awful, nothing worth mentioning about this team)

AL Playoffs

Boston Red Sox v. Cleveland Indians - Cleveland Indians
Seattle Mariners v. Detroit Tigers - Detroit Tigers

Cleveland Indians v. Detroit Tigers - Detroit Tigers

NL West

1. Colorado Rockies *(Will be even better than last year)
2. San Diego Padres (Not enough offense to win the World Series)
3. Arizona Diamondbacks (Lack of starting pitching depth will hurt them)
4. LA Dodgers (Joe Torre won't be enough to help Andruw Jones)
5. SF Giants (Horrible team)

NL Central

1. Chicago Cubs * (They have enough to win it all, unless Ryan Dumpster ruins it for them)
2. Milwaukee Brewers * (Depends on how healthy their starting pitching is (i.e. Sheets)
3. Houston Astros (Always seem to contend no matter what they have)
4 Cincinnati Reds (They have the players in place, but Dusty Baker could screw it up)
4. St. Louis Cardinals (All depends on how healthy Pujols and Carpenter can be)
5. Pittsburgh Pirates (Just aren't showing enough good young players to start moving up)

NL East

1. Philadelphia Phillies * (Have a great offense that can help make up for the starting pitching)
2. New York Mets (Johan will get hurt at some point this year)
3. Atlanta Braves (Can never count them out)
4. Washington Nationals (Have acquired some good young talent for their new stadium)
5. Florida Marlins (In another rebuilding phase after trade D-Train and Cabrera)

NL Playoffs

Milwaukee v. Philadelphia - Philadelphia
Chicago Cubs v. Colorado Rockies - Chicago

Philadelphia v. Chicago - Chicago

World Series

Chicago Cubs v. Detroit Tigers - Detroit Tigers (way too much offense)
