The End of Anonymous

All of you how post under "Anonymous" - you have till the end of today to do it. After today I'm changing it to not allow "Anonymous" posters. Give yourself a name - like Al Franken lover or O'Reilly Worshipper or something.

It's too hard to keep track of who's saying what. We don't know who to argue with!!!

Good times being had by all. I thought the Obama administration was bringing peace, hope and change and we were all going to get along?

1 More Day!

I added a new Olympics widget to the bottom of the page. It's a competition and results schedule so you can see who has won what.
Right now it's a countdown clock.

A few more updates to the blog:

I've added more widgets to the bottom of the page. You now have USA Today politics (which includes daily presidential tracking polls), USA Today pop culture and a 2008 Olympics widget which will update as the Games go on.

So remember to check the bottom of the page everyday!

Blog Updates

I've done some more updating to the site. The list of my favorite websites has been updated, I got rid of the ones that don't even exist anymore!
I've also added to the blogs list which posts the most recent articles from certain blogs/websites. Make sure and check out the Observations website!

I'll update the poll and top 5 list weekly.

And remember the widgets on the bottom of the page.

The New Era

As you can tell my blog has made some major changes - new look, new design, etc. Here's some highlights:

On the sidebar: Sign up for blog updates so you'll know when I get around to updating the thing;

On the sidebar under My Blog List I've added three blogs: Observations is by our friend E.N. TMZ and Deadspin you already know. They will show the latest updates on those sites so you'll know when to visit them.

The poll is still there on the sidebar.

Sidebar has a Top 5 list I'll try and update once in a while.

Then the usuals are there: Favorite web sites, labels and archives.

On the bottom of the page I've added widgets for baseball news, MSNBC news bar and the Bill Simmons updates.

I'll probably be doing a couple more things and I'll update you if I do. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

Make sure and vote in the polls on the right-hand side. The amount of participants has really went down!! Probably has to do with me posting less. I'm slacking!

Blog Updates

I have no idea if anyone reads this thing anymore due to the infrequency with which I update it, but if you do I put a new thing on here - it's a Bill Simmons widget. It updates everytime he writes an article. That way I don't always have to link to it. Right-hand side of the page.

Remember to vote in the polls as well.

I know I've been slacking on postings lately, just too busy. But I'll try and keep up. Remember you can sign up for the update thing that will send you a daily e-mail if I've updated the site (or if a contributor EVER posts!).

Who Am I?

The big question seems to be who is Barry Zap? The answer is - I'm not telling! The identies of my contributors are a secret unless they want to reveal themselves. You can probably figure out who a couple of them are, but Zap really seems to be stumping people.
Who know's, maybe it's my alter ego?

Couple Things

1) I hope no one takes offense to political debate on this site. I have my views, you have yours and we'll probably never agree. Doesn't mean we can't debate it. I just don't want anyone to think I get all pissed off about comments or things on this site. I actually enjoy hearing the opposing view and most of the time I laugh and get excited that I have someone to debate with. I hope it's the same from your side and you don't want to take a hammer to my head when I give my views.
I guess I see it as this is my blog and my forum to spout my thoughts and I open it up to everyone else to disagree and bash whatever I say. That's fine with me. I respect your views but I don't have to agree with them and vice versa for you.
Basically I'm a Republican, I support W. and I will probably never, ever, ever support a Democrat. I wouldn't expect anything else from those opposing me on this site!!!

2) Anonymous - Come on! The number of people commenting under anonymous is getting really old!! Be creative and pick a fake name - I Hate Bush, Democrats #1, I Love the Chicago Bears, Boy George Rules - I don't know, but pick something.
It's much easier to debate with someone if you know which "anonymous" you're debating with. You get to know that person's views on politics or sports or whatever and it's more fun that way.
I do have the option of not allowing comments from people using "anonymous" and I'm very close to using it.
I'll give everyone 1 week to shape up!!!!

Blog Updates

1) As you can tell I haven't been updating the site as frequently as I used to, I've been really busy lately. But I'll keep up with it the best I can and hopefully my contributors will continue to help out!!!
The best thing to do is to get the e-mail update which alerts you when the blog has been updated. I have it in my links to the right. It's the first one. I think it sends you an e-mail if the blog has been updated the day before.

2) Speaking of links - I have added a number of new websites to my links. The sites include fansites for popular TV shows like "Lost, Heroes and Friday Night Lights," reality sites for "Survivor, The Amazing Race and Big Brother," and movie fan sites for "Indiana Jones, James Bond and Lord of the Rings."
I've also added a number of TV and movie news sites to keep you updated on everything going on in the entertainment world. And even some music sites as well.
Basically enough sites to keep you busy on your most boring day or work!!

If anyone has suggestions on other "essential" websites, let me know. I'd like to add some more.

3) I would love it if "anonymous" would start making comments under a name. You don't have to use your real name, but a fake name would be nice so that everyone would know who the comments are coming from. I know who you are (yup, I do) but I don't expect you to use your real name, I don't even use my real name!!
But it would be nice if you used a code name each time so that we know who the comments are coming from. You contribute frequently and I enjoy debating with you and you bring up good points, so it would be nice to associate a code name with you so we're not always wondering what "anonymous" is speaking.

Site Updates

Couple new additions to the site - a "Lemonade Stand" where I point out products I like. If you buy them, I make money!
Also, updated the countdown clock on the bottom. Spring is just around the corner!!!!

How about some comments on this site! I think the only time I get comments is when I blast a Democrat!

We Had A Boy!

As you've noticed Polsportment is on a break. That would be due to my wife and I having a baby boy!
I promise to get back to this site at some point, but I'm going to take some time off.

But to tide you over - more proof that "The Hills" is fake.

Truth or Fiction

I stumbled across this web page and it's pretty entertaining. Ever watch a Hollywood film that's "based on a true story," only to hear later that most of the film was made up and only loosely based on the actual story?
Well here's a webpage that gives you the true story and then compares it to the Hollywood movie.
I came across this after watching "The Pursuit of Happyness." Funny that the movie forgot to include the main character's past history of drug use and being arrested for abusing his wife.

I'll also put this link in my list of web pages.

Blog Updates

As you've probably noticed, I now have Google ads and a Google search bar on my site. I also have other ads on the right sidebar underneath my previous posts from other months.
As Mr. S.F said, I have sold out!
Yup, I guess I have. I figure that if I'm going to put time into this site I might as well try and make some money as well.

I'm thinking of firing some contributors as well if they don't start proving their worth!
