Some baseball notes from the winter meetings:
Looks like Mark Teixeira is headed to the Red Sox. As much as I'm starting to hate the Red Sox, I will always cheer for them over the Yankees and I'd rather see a big-time player go to the Red Sox over the Yankees if that's the choice. Teixeira is also being pursued by the Nationals, which would be great, but it won't happen.
Yankees are going to get A.J. Burnett. While the prospect of the Yankees having Sabathia and Burnett is scary, I'm not too worried about it. Why? Because Sabathia weighs about 300 pounds and he's never pitched good in the playoffs. Horrible contract. Burnett has a history of injury troubles and that will continue in New York. Carl Pavano ring a bell???
Also, the Yankees have no offense anymore. So they can have all the pitching they want, but what's left besides A-Rod?
And finally, the Cubs pursuit of Jake Peavy is supposedly over. I don't buy this for a second. It seems that every year when there is a monster trade rumor, the main team always says talks are over. Then a month later they get the guy. Peavy only wants to play for the Cubs so it's just a matter of time before the teams agree on players.
