Crime Time

Here is the northern suburbs weekly crime report, courtesy of the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Blaine

Theft - A 17-year-old, reported she signed up for a job placement service online. She received an e-mail from a person offering to hire her. Part of the employment involved depositing two $1,500 checks into her account, keeping $300 for compensation and sending back $2,700 by Western Union to Crossville, Tenn. She did and is now told by Wells Fargo the checks are fake and she owes the bank $3,000. She was advised this is a common internet scam and to appeal to Wells Fargo for a deduction in her debt.

Property Damage - Police were called in regard to a political sign that was burned. There were seven other cases of burned signs in the area.

Coon Rapids

Drunken Driving - Someone called to report loud and disturbing intoxicated people driving a lawn mower. An officer arrived and located a man driving the mower and a woman riding on the hood. The man was arrested for DWI and the mower was towed away.
