One of the reasons The Messiah was supposed to run away with this election was because Independents were going to vote for him. Apparently this was because of the "change" and "hope" he was going to bring. Well that isn't the case anymore. A new poll shows that McCain leads The Messiah in Independents 52% to 37%. That's a 12% increase since the convention!
I've always been confused by the independent label given to The Messiah. He was named one of the most liberal members of the U.S. Senate, he voted with his party more than 80% of the time, he's never worked on any meaningful legislation with members across the aisle and he's never stuck his neck out for some cause all by himself. The only change he's bringing is more liberalism. Maybe voters are finally starting to wake up to this guy and realize he's not offering anything.
While McCain has voted with President Bush 90% of the time, you can also look at his career and see the independent streak he's taken. And for proof of that look at how mad he's made Republicans over the years. McCain brings the true change to this race, not The Messiah.
