Now What?


Now that the 2008 Summer Olympics have come to a close it will be interesting to see what China does with it's state-sponsored athletic program. They have been gearing up for these Games for years and it paid off with their impressive gold medal haul. But at what cost did it come?


Most of these athletes are taken from their homes at the age of 5 and put in camps to train for their sports. The ones that don't make it have nothing to fall back on.


My guess is that they will continue to do the same thing they have been doing since China wants to become the most powerful country in the world. But eventually it could catch up to them.
Some other Olympic news:
Ever wonder what happens to all the buildings and structures that are built for Olympic games? Well in Beijing most will be used for events in the future. However, in Athens, Greece most are abandoned and a wreck.
