Crime Time

It's your weekly northern suburbs crime report, courtesy of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Blaine

Computer Crime - A man told police that he had a business fallout with three people during the past month. On Oct. 19, he received a phone call from a man who wanted to engage in a sexual relationship with him after the caller said he conversed with the man on the internet. The man reported that he has not been able to get into his "Hot or Not" account and believes that the three people with whom he had the fallout are responsible for putting his phone number on his account, making it seem as though he was soliciting gay sex. Police spoke to the three people, who said the man left the business a month ago and they hadn't heard from him. They said they did not hack into any accounts.

Property Damage - A woman told police that someone spray-painted a fire hydrant. When police arrived, they found a blue spray-painted racial slur on new curbing. A construction sign, a realty sign, a fire hydrant, a street sign, and several mailboxes were also spray-painted. A man found that his white enclosed trailer parked on the street was spray-painted blue, too. The man believes the color is "Bengal blue" and suspects Blaine High School students.

Theft - A man reported that someone stole a gas tank from his back yard. The man said the gas tank was for sale on Craigslist.org.

Theft - A woman reported that someone entered her condemned trailer and stole a charcoal cat painting, value $10.

Property Damage - Overnight, someone ran over a woman's garbage cans.

Counterfeit Money - Casey's General Store received a fraudulent $50 bill. Police said it appears to be a $5 bill that was washed and reprinted as a $50 bill.

Coon Rapids

Stolen Food - A woman reported that her detached garage was broken into and two venison steaks, a box of waffles, and a box of chicken were stolen.

Fridley

Theft - A man reported that someone stole his $350 pool cue from Two Stooges Bar & Grill while he was outside smoking.

Theft - A man received a half-hour massage from a woman in an apartment. After leaving the apartment, he realized that the $1,500 cash he brought with him was gone, along with $5,500 in cash he left in the back of his truck. He went back to the apartment, knocked on the door and was greeted by two men who said the woman was gone. The man negotiated with the men to return his money, but they closed the door on him.

Mounds View

Property Damage - A man who was putting gas into his vehicle at the BP Station, moved his car while the gas hose was still inside. The hose borke off from the pump. The man argued with the attendant about responsibility for the damage, then drove off.
