Where You At Al??

Interesting that Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and many other liberals had a fit over Don Imus' comments the other week, yet they have no problem with rapper Akon practically raping a 15 year old girl on stage or with the violent/racist/sexist lyrics in his songs.
I guess they would say that Akon is just expressing himself and talking about his life. So that would mean his life involves raping young women huh. Ya, great guy.
And "American Idol" had this guy perform on their show? Isn't that a family show?

The best part about Akon - he practices Islam. Yup, the religion of "peace." Why don't Arab groups criticize his words and behavior?

I have some of Akon's music on my IPod and I'm sort of ashamed I do. But I'm not letting kids listen to it. There's a difference between a 29 year old listening to it and a 14 year old. Yet that's who his music is marketed to. He's on MTV, American Idol, Radio Disney (which finally dropped him after pressure), Verizon Wireless phones, etc. Yet Sharpton and the other race baiters have no problem with the crap that Akon is throwing into the ears of young people. But they do have an issue with a radio shock jock who probably doesn't have one person under the age 0f 25 listening to him! Makes sense Al!
Read the lyrics and watch the video and tell me if you think kids should be listening to this guy?

Here's a good article by conservative columnist Michelle Malkin on the subject (you can also hear this on the video link above:

Welcome to Vent with Michelle Malkin.
On the front burner today: Mainstreaming a hip-hop misogynist.
Take a close look at this vulgar and degrading video…(Video doesn't work anymore, YouTube removed it)
...The girl is 15-year-old Danah Alleyne, the daughter of a prominent preacher in Trinidad. She was reportedly tricked into a dance contest on stage and then groped and sexually molested in front of the standing room only crowd. "This whole hip hop thing is a guise and I don't want any part of it,"the humiliated Alleyne told the Trinidad Express. The incident is being investigated by police authorities in Trinidad and the country's prime minister has condemned the performer and his posse.
Who is the out of control animal? The man dragging around the young girl is Senagalese-American rapper Akon—one of the most popular and successful rappers on the airwaves right now…
Last week the Universal Music Group rapper was at the top of Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay charts.
He recently appeared on American Idol to perform one of his hit singles…
…He has teamed up on sexually explicit and exploitative duets with rappers Snoop Dog and Eminem...
…and he'll be performing next week in Denver, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, and Dallas as part of pop singer Gwen Stefani's tour
Akon is currently a featured artist and partner with Verizon Wireless, where you can download his foul-mouthed ringtones…
Yes, this same thug who served jail time for armed robbery and drug distribution……who claims to have three wives sanctioned by his Islamic faith…and who dry-humped 15 year old Danah Alleyne on stage in Trinidad in April and then sandwiched her along with his DJ…
…is raking in the big bucks degrading women...
Akon is now working on a movie about his life, has his own clothing line, and also has a lucrative South African diamond mining and wholesale distribution company.
Trinidad government officials are in an uproar over Akon's assault on Danah Alleyne.
But where are all of the chest-pounders who came to the rescue of the Rutgers women's basketball team after Don Imus called them nappy headed hos?
How about you Hillary Clinton?
And how about Akon's enablers in the press? No mainstream media outlet has covered the developing scandal in Trinidad. But they have plenty to say in praise of Akon's "music:"
"Grand," says the NYTimes.
"Polished…irresistibly slick," according to Usa Today.
"Swaggering gangster soul," writes Entertainment Weekly.
"An artist of vision and versatility," says the Boston Globe.
Tell that to Danah Alleyne.
'Til next Vent, I'm Michelle Malkin for Hot Air.
Update: Verizon has fired Akon and pulled their sponsorship from his tour. The country of Trinidad is also threatning to prosecute Akon for his acts on stage. Good job by Laura Ingraham and Michelle Malkin in publicizing this and forcing companies to take action!!!
Here's more info on the incident and video of Akon doing the same thing to Tara Reid.
Also, here's a video without the commentary of the last one and then pictures.

I want to thank those who campaigned to get Verizon Wireless to sever its relationship with Akon. I actually thought I was singularly responsible for that because my tiny little blog, whataboutourdaughters.org, had a campaign to get them to drop him and I featured it on my internet talk show last week and awarded Verizon Wireless our Wagging Finger of Shame Award. There was actually another campaign my Laura Ingraham and Michelle Malkin about the Akon incident as well. But I’ll take a win where I can get it. Tomorrow my talkshow segment is called “Does Hip Hop Really Hate Black Women?” It is at Noon CST on blogtalkradio.com/blackwomen.
